Which finish should I choose?

Fini-tech furniture and woodworks:

It is now easier than ever to varnish all your interior woods ! The splendid finish of Fini-tech Furniture and woodworks levels itself and preserves wood’s natural beauty. Fini-tech Furniture and woodworks is a highly resistant water based urethane finish. Practically odorless, it adheres easily, dries within few hours, will not yellow, is easy to clean and offers a very high resistance to wear, water and chemical products.

Three different lusters are available: gloss, semi-gloss or satin.

1. New or restored wood
2. Prefinished wood
3. Woodworks, cupboards, decorative objects, etc.

Fini-tech Supreme Adhesion:

Fini-tech Supreme Adhesion assures a perfect adhesion on scoured, oily and exotic woods. Used for first coat or for principal finish, it offers a splendid finish that protects and preserves wood’s natural beauty. Fini-tech Supreme Adhesion is a water based urethane finish highly resistant to wear. Practically odorless, it adheres easily, dries within few hours, will not yellow, is easy to clean and offers a very high resistance to water and chemical products.

Cleaning

Before scouring or sanding, we recommend you to clean the surface with an heavy duty cleaner such as Finitec Shock Treatment. To avoid finish contamination and adherence problems, make sure to properly neutralize the scouring solution. In doubt, use  Fini-tech Supreme Adhesion as a first coat and Fini-tech Furniture and woodworks for the other coat.

Sanding

Sanding provides a smooth and uniform application as well as a better adherence.
Sand completely following wood grains using a finer and finer sandpaper (120,180 or 220). To make sure that no residues will stick on the finish, remove dust with a dry cloth. Do not use steel wool.

Dye and paint

It is now time to apply your dye or paint. Follow manufacturer's instructions for the application method. Fini-tech finishes are compatible with most of oil-based and water-based finishes. Proceed to an adherence and compatibility test on a board before applying. In doubt, use Fini-tech Supreme Adhesion.

Application

Applicator choice : hair or foam brush, or a finish applicator.

Method of application

New or restored wood

1) All surfaces must be free of all dirt, grease,  and previous coatings.
2) Proceed to an adherence and compatibility test on a board before applying.
Apply one coat of Fini-tech Supreme Adhesion and two or three coats of Fini-Tech Furniture and Woodworks with the following method of application:

1. Shake the finish adequately and wait 10 minutes to allow bubbles to break.
2. Spread an uniform coat following the wood grain using a hair or foam brush, or finish applicator.
3. Allow about two or three hours of drying time between coats (may vary according to conditions).
4. Sand lightly between coats using a fine sandpaper (220).  

Prefinished wood (restoration)

Compatible with most of oil-based and water based stains and finishes. It is important to remove completely all shine on the wood (top coat). Apply 1 or 2 coats of Fini-tech Furniture and Woodworks following the previous method of application. 

In order to eliminate dirt, oily and greasy residues, use an heavy duty cleaner, as Finitec Shock Treatment, before applying.

To make sure that there is no more exposed spot, work in the daylight.

For best results, use Fini-tech Supreme Adhesion as first coat combine with  Fini-tech Furniture and Woodworks for the other coats.

In order to prevent warp, apply one coat on every surfaces (even inside the drawers).    

To prevent marks and bubbles, apply thick coats and use  a 45° applicator. Respect drying time between every coats.

Clean tools with water.

For furniture and woodworks maintenance, use Fini-tech cleaning products.

Use Finitec felt pads to protect the finish from decorative furniture.
