The healthy renovation concept developed by Finitec demonstrates its sense of environmental responsibility. The main difference between water-based and solvent-based coatings is that water, and not toxic solvents, transports the urethane. When Finitec water-based finish dries, the water evaporates, leaving a protective finish on the wood. By contrast, when solvent-based finishes dry, the solvents evaporate into the atmosphere, leaving a strong odour for days. These vapours are inflammable and can even result in explosions.

Solvent-based products (Moisture Cure) or modified oils release a large quantity of volatile organic compound (VOC) dangerous for the environment. Finitec finishes leave no disagreeable odours and eliminate the need to leave the house and to remove food, plants and animals beforehand, thus improving air quality for the residents and professionals doing the job. The VOC count in Finitec water-based products is below environmental standards. What's more, water-based finishes dry very quickly, in two to three hours, while solvent-based finishes often take more than twelve hours to dry.

Fini-Tech 6000 sets the new durability standard for wood floor finishing products. Specially formulated to give maximum durability and resistance to abrasion, Fini-Tech 6000 outclasses all those finishes that, until now, claimed to be the most durable. A unique combination of surface agents gives it exceptional resistance. In the Taber Abraser test, Fini-Tech 6000 was shown to be the most resistant of the one-component finishes.

Fini-Tech 8000 is the most resistant of Finitec's finishes. This two-component water-based urethane finish is perfect for heavy traffic commercial floors.The mix of Fini-Tech 8000 along with the Hardener, provide the best protection possible to your floors. Practically odorless, dries within a few hours and will not yellow.

The Centre de recherche industriel du Québec (CRIQ) (Quebec Industrial Research Centre), at the request of Finitec, tested the comparative resistance to abrasion of Fini-Tech 6000 finish and Fini-Tech 3000 as well as five other water- and solvent-based finishes (modified oils and Moisture Cure). The Fini-Tech 6000 and Fini-Tech 3000 were classed first and third amongst the samples tested.

The varnishes evaluated were applied according to the manufacturers' instructions. The number of layers and drying times were fully respected. Each sample was weighed to determine the true quantity of varnish applied. Then, the sample underwent 1000 rotations with an abrasive disk. After this step, the samples were once again weighed in order to measure the mass (weight) lost.
